Tatami Architecture

The tatami is a Japanese floor mat with dimensions based on the human body. It is one of the four ‘platforms’ featured in the series of installations Platform. Body/Space. During this evening, art historian Dr. Sophie Berrebi presented the research behind Platform. Body/Space and professor Carola Hein gave a lecture on the history and cultural significance of the tatami.

New Haberdashery Workshop: 16+

Two in one: from Beach Towel to Sarong
12:00 – 16:00
 

When the weather is good, sun worshippers mark their territory on the beach with countless towels. During this workshop, participants will make a beach towel that can also function as a sarong or a cool surf hoodie. On Sunday 14 August 2016 create a multifunctional item for lying on the beach or parading on the boardwalk.

The expert staff of The New Haberdashery will help you transform a piece of fabric into ‘bodylicious swimwear’ so that you will shine at the pool or the beach this summer, at home or abroad.
